Tengu, being the only race to appear in both current campaigns, seem to be a good fit. They already are very human-like, and can wield all weapons without looking strange.

I think making one of the next chapter exclusive professions Tengu, would be the best way to make Tengu work in Guild Wars. This way they would only need to design armor for one profession, and the skins would all be the same (colour options maybe?). As well, it would be a good reason for Tengu being playable.

Well, i must say... some people have some crazy grudge against WoW. I dont know why, its a very well executed game, good ideas mix with bad ideas and such. And races, although not required, never really hurt. If you dont like the idea then stay as a human. For everyone else it could be fun to play as something else. i have some opinions on this though:

First off, Tengu... why? well, thats my argument against them... i guess i just dont like the Tengu. But if you do, more power to you. I just wont play a Tengu.

Next... if you make one you cant just limit it to that and say, "Well they're unique to GW, so thats the only one we're using." I dont have a problem with dwarves, undead (especially liked that one) perhaps elonian ghost people (eh, maybe not but you get the idea). The way i see it, each one should have a strenght and each a weaknes. Like the dwarves could get extra attack power, but have a lower base energy. Im also a supporter of professions specific to class. Using dwarves again, perhaps a dwarf cant be a mesmer because of some cultural reason like they werent patient enough to learn the secrets of illusion... but that opinion is up for debate.

Now the problem lies in the existing chars. Im sure people would want to make new characters something other than humans... but they filled their slots up w/ human chars. So there should be some quest or something in which, upon completion you have the oppurtunity to change your class... maybe a UW quest that requires items specific to each class. Like dwarves need x amount of deldrimor steel and ecto or whatever to change. As for the ability to change back and forth... eh, im not liking that idea. And all new chars entering game wont have access to quest... but that gets complex. Im sure Anet would figure something simpler out in that aspect, but the idea is there.

So in conclusion i guess i should just say i support these ideas and think its stupid to condemn them because they're utilized by other games. I mean we all know GW is great and stands out, but do you think every aspect is original? I think not. Anything to improve the game would make me happy... my experience wont be hindered by a game that i dont even play.

That's quite a poor argument. Kind of like saying; "arrest this man because I don't like how he looks."

Now, if we ignore the people who "just don't like" the Tengu, and go for the facts of Guild Wars, it is clear that the only non-human creature to appear in both chapters is the Tengu (Dredge do not count, they were added with the SF update).

If not Tengu, then possibly some other species that they feel would work well (i.e. not Elves or Orcs). They could be specific to one of the new professions. This would mean anyone who wants to be this profession would be this second species.

i dont think so
yeh they can maybe add tengu but not as just a look instead of male/female
as a seperate profession if they did
and it would be silly if u could be charr/mursaat/summit etc cuse they are the enemys
and if u took into tyria a tengu and were killing tengu it would look stupid

I discourage the Orc / Imp / Elf "Standard" Races as, well, it's standard. GW is not a standard Game. Everywhere else We can see Those "classes" And Not only do I hate them as they ring an Air of Dark basment low lifes crouded around playing D&D, but its been done.
Guild Wars has the typical "cliche" dwarves (short, beards, drink a lot, speak in rough english).

and yet they come and say Elves and Orcs are too cliche and overdone for Guild Wars? What kind of broken logic is that exactly?

i think it's a great idea, and whose to say the tengu doesnt get its own personal story before the searing or before being sent to shing jay, just a little cut scene showing him/her being banished. Thats a good reason to fight its own kind. I think 3 is a good number of rances to have if the ever do have them. Dwarves humans and tengu. It isn't crazy with every race in GW playable but it still adds variety

The Tengu Models should not come with Different attributes, but just look different, thats all.
It seems a pretty obvious thing now that they've allowed Tengu to speak Human, and have settlements. They're also similar enough to humans that one wouldn't need new rules or anything for them (like one might with, say, Ettins).

Actually some Canthan skills sound like they were invented for Tengu PC's (Silverwing Slash f.ex.) so maybe Tengu were slated for Factions but got scrapped because there wasn't time to draw new armors and stuff?

Anyway, yeah, sure, why not?

Tengu are just rip-off's of ye old D&D Kenku's, they are not new or unique to guild wars.
Nothing wrong with new races but they need to be something people want to play as, i for one would never play as a Tengu.

I would love to play a dwarf as well, but looking at factions and NIghtfall, i doubt we will ever see other races as well. Why you may ask...

With the paragon resembling the ele model, we see that they favor recycling models to save time and effort to bring us the "new professions" to meet their 6 monthly deadline for release. Imagine now if they had to make a new race which will mean adding new armour rendering for 6(core)+2(sin+rit)+2(para+Dev) = 10 CLASSES X 2 (different gender)... Do you think that will happen? unless they place some serious restrictions on racial classes or specific racial armour regarless of class which will still suck.

Why make these improvements if they can continue to recycle models and milk us more with more of the same?
